This story is all over the Chinese news too. A Hong Kong TV news show interviewed the guy who hit the girl. They asked him why he didn't stop, but instead went on to run over her again. He said that injuring someone costs $100,000, but killing someone only costs $20,000 so killing her seemed to be the cheaper choice.

This was in a poor industrial area, so it just goes to show how uneducated these people are in these matters.

why didn't anyone ask where the eff her parents were when she was bleeding to death on the road? ryan hardly leaves my sight for that long when we're out.

Update:

The area you see in the video is a loading dock area of some sort of shopping mall. The parents own a store in the mall, and the girl was playing with her older brother at the back of the store. The little girl wandered out of the store, and her brother told her mom. The mall is pretty big, and the mom said she was looking everywhere for her daughter, but didn't know she made it out all the way to the loading area.

Another thing the mom said - the part she was most mad about was that 3 or 4 of the people that walked by the injured girl actually knew the girl and the family. They weren't strangers.

The driver was arrested... not sure if he was convicted for anything yet though. It's too soon for any type of conviction.

I dunno.. looking at the video and reading what those people are saying, I call BS on those passersby. Those people walked literally within steps of the girl.

And I don't doubt that there was neglect on the part of the parents, but that doesn't excuse the people who turned a blind eye.
