Just in case I haven't told some of you about this promo yet, here are the deets:

You need to have or know someone who has a student email address at a valid university/college and plus is registered in at least 1 course.

After you buy and download, this is actually the upgrade version, but there's a workaround to do a clean install.

You have to use the method in the link to make a bootable ISO (I have the 32bit version made already, ask me for it if you want, and Dunc has the 64bit).
Then install Windows using the "Custom Install" method. When it comes to the part where it asks for a product key, leave it blank. It will then install in "trial mode". After the trial mode finishes installing, start up the install disc within the trial version of Windows in "administrator" mode.

Now, choose the "Upgrade" install option. You should be able to use your product key now to install it correctly.

i gotta be honest, win7 isn't all that bad... the only crappy thing is every now and then you wont find driver/software support for it yet... but all in all it's not so bad...

so i tried doing this last week, and i found out that my interchange email address expired. boourns.

I think you have to be registered in at least one course too.. but that's only in the case that they do an audit. Not sure how often they do that.

You can try asking someone from Clay or YM if you can use their student email addresses. I tried using Aaron's email address, but he's pretty hard to follow up with on this kind of stuff. I ended up getting mine through JT's Douglas College email address.

But yea, i tried with my interchange as well and it expires after you grad... you have to pay to keep it alive... heck if i'm going to pay for an interchange email!...

No no... it's hosted in Ontario. I'm cheap so I just look for all the free Unix softwares out there. Just waiting on Coleen to work through the Wordpress main blog page cuz I don't want to do all the work only to have her come in and say, "No, I want it this way instead".

You have to make sure your CPU can handle 64bit first though.

true, but if you can, i recommend it because the nice thing about win7 is that it has dual mode that you can run 32bit stuff on too. Also, i'm pretty sure eventually everything's going to go towards 64 bit.

i have 4gb of ram on my laptop, not sure if my processor can handle 64bit (nor do i really know what it means).
it's an intel core 2 duo 2.0ghz processor, am i good to go?
