Thought this was a good read... I've only read a few pages but made me lol a few times because its kinda true. Obviously not always applicable, but its quite generally true. I'm willing to bet that some of you will recognize parallels in your marriage/relationship.

I drew a few parallels about how this world caters to idiots. Ever notice the more capable at work you are, the more you do? If you're just stay under the radar or are somewhat incompetant, you do the easy stuff (often at the same pay).

Its not really women bashing, if anything its degrading to men... but its kind of true...

some good quotes:

interesting that the author is a women herself. i just skimmed the intro.

seeing for the most part, i see joyce being the smarter and more educated between the two of us i don't necessarily relate to some of this stuff. joyce puts more hours into her career than i do as well. and overall probably more hours of chores.

in general women and men operate in certain ways. there are always exceptions of course, but in general it's all the same.
women = emotional
men = logical

that's why we have such a hard time understanding each other.

isnt the idea that the more "intelligent" gender, supposedly men, being manipulated by women somewhat ironic?

if men are this easily manipulated, that begs the question who really are the intelligent ones then? and if you know of this manipulation the author speaks of, and are still being manipulated, then to some level you must be allowing it to continue, at least on a person-to-person level.

i read the other posts, and i really was going to read the posted document when i had the time. i didn't realise that it was a novel.

you have to give up control to be controlled.

on the most part, yes. but even in giving up control, you can still control.

case in point: there are times when i want to buy something but winnie doesn't want me to. i'd say something like that's not fair that she can control what i buy and what i can't. she ends up saying something like, "fine, buy it then".

"control" there is given up, but who still maintains the control?
