$200 at futureshop and bestbuy AND walmart. and a 64gb could be had due to a misprint in the states for $249. i guess i should have waited.

so anyone going to pick one up while it's so cheap? we can video chat lol.

i wonder if it'll get that cheap. if it does, i think i'll buy a 64gb one and give winnie my old one haha.

reasons for price drop

1) nobody's really buying them
2) kindle fire and other tablets are coming in at a $200ish price point
3) they're probably trying to clear out stock because they're working on a new release

actually, it's only #1. the playbook and the ereaders are totally different animals, so they're not really competing.
i think what rim is doing is trying to get as many playbooks into people's hands so the developers will develop more apps and stuff. truth be told, the apps right now aren't the greatest.

with the promise (fingers crossed) of os2 coming in february, with android app support, i have a feeling that this device will be a lot better than it is now.

official statement from rim is that they're not putting out a playbook 2 for a while.

i think read somewhere recently playbooks have sold 700k units so far and in comparison ipads have sold 11M units (not sure if that's just ipad2 or both)...

yeah, i wouldn't be surprised. people buy ipads for image, not really for need or productivity. at the national convention, you'd be surprised how many people brought their ipads up to the mic to show everyone that they had one, and they didn't even refer to them once. one guy didn't even have it turned on, he was just holding it.

there's no way that the playbook could touch apple's sales, i can admit that. but that doesn't mean that they're not good products, as duncan seems to want everyone to believe for some strange reason lol.

yeah i am not saying they are bad at all, i have no idea, i've never used either before. and i am all for things being cheaper...

it has its bugs like the android tablets, but seriously, the size (for me) is awesome. i love being able to put it in my coat pocket or in the door pocket of my car. i find ipads (and other 10" tablets) much too bulky for my liking. i enjoy being able to surf the net while lying on my back too.

haha, there's actually a diy on how to do it, and that app is 99 cents to get whatever you want to scroll across your playbook.

Touchpad actually outsold the ipad when it was being cleared out.
