It's $20+ per person... do you think that'd be too expensive?

I was thinking about it and for 10-15 people, I'd rather do hot pot at a restaurant to save on the hassle of setting up and cleaning up. If it's too expensive though, I can consider doing it in house instead.

wow, that's expensive for hot pot, especially after we were talking about how cheap hot pot is. (or were we saying that it's easy?)

I don't think anyone said it's cheap... it's "cheaper" than eating out, but so are all other types of food. I say cheaper with quotations because this place is all you can eat, plus it has seafood. I guess cheaper would depend on how much each person eats.

I think if we do hot pot at home (assuming we have all the sauces already), doing just beef and/or pork with assorted veggies would come out to about $10-$15 per person. The most expensive part is the thin sliced prepackaged meat. If we can find a place that does that meat cheaper, then it'd be a lot cheaper. Seafood would add to the cost significantly as well.

The balls aren't cheap either. $6 for a pack of 20 assorted balls.

hm, in that case, i guess 20 bucks isn't too bad. i never had to buy hot pot stuff before, so i have no idea the cost. i just thought we were talking about it in the other thread.

perhaps we should go one night and "test" it out first.

Test out which one? The restaurant or buying food and doing it ourselves?

I've tried that hot pot restaurant before.. it's pretty good.

It'll have to be a weekday night though because my weekends are packed with dinner plans already.

i don't mind heading out for hot pot, but i think it's more convenient (to parents, i know clean up is a bitch) to do it at someone's house... that way the kids can run ramped and we don't have to worry about them running into another table...

If everyone pitches in and helps clean up, it's not that big of a deal to clean up. especially if we do it at Kitty's house, they have two sinks we can use to clean.
