It looks like RIM is putting itself out there for sale. There are talks starting between Amazon and RIM, and rumours of a joint bid between Microsoft and Nokia as well.

what i read is that talks about amazon buying out rim started in the summer, and were shot down last night.

from what it sounds like from those two articles, it's the others who are considering buying rim, not rim considering being bought. the article i read yesterday said that rim may make their os public, but not be bought out.

That's what the first article said too.. they were looking to license out their OS.
If there were talks between Amazon and RIM that lasted from the summer until now, then it's not as simple as just Amazon offering to buy a company that's not for sale. If RIM wasn't considering selling the company, then it would've been a simple "no" and talks would've ended with Amazon as soon as they started.

yeah, i guess. i just took you saying "actively" as meaning they were going out to see who would want to buy them, which doesn't seem to be the case.

It still could be the case... it seems Balsillie's "leave no stone unturned" statement is creating tons of speculation.

ok, we'll see who has the same exact looking 9 phones (which are basically the same phone but with new "tweaks") for the past 9 years in 5 years time.
