so apparently not only does starbucks give away a free mp3 single a week, but now they're giving away a free app per week too. this week (ends on monday) is the full version of "where's my water?". ryan loves this game so we picked it up. i have two extra codes if anyone wants it and doesn't have a chance to make it out to a starbucks by monday. not sure when the code expires though.

maybe we can have this thread dedicated to that app pick of the week.

you can also go to and see what apps are currently free if they usually cost money. It shows all apps though so you'll get a ton of foreign apps on the list but i've gotten a few gems off this site before. There are a bunch of other sites dedicated to mining promotional free apps but this is the one is use.

i thought you nerds jailbreak your phones

i did jailbreak a while back with my 3g, but it wasn't really worth it imo. Sure you get neato things here and there, but they update the ios so often now that it makes it a pain in the ass to wait for the next untethered jailbreak. Plus, i don't really have any earth shattering need for the jailbroken features anyways. I'd probably just use it for pirated apps, but i don't mind paying 99 cents for little apps here and there so even that's kinda moot.

Also, a lot of the jailbreak add ons like winterboard slow your phone down like crazy. It was so annoying always waiting an extra couple seconds for things to load. It's probably better now that the hardware is much better (the 3g was severely underpowered even at launch), but still, it's not worth the headache imo

i was looking around to see what the free app is this week, but apparently they alternate between free app and free song. this week is a jack johnson song. i think i just hear jt squeal in delight.

It's actually a TV episode, so I think you download it from iTunes instead of the app store.

i think you can get it from the app store. i think that's what winnie did. the app store and itunes are pretty much the same anyway.

speaking of which, kingdom rush is on sale for 99 cents (from 2.99 i think). i found it online a while ago and was considering buying it when we got the ipad, but the 2.99 price tag scared me away. winnie got some gift cards and told me to buy it so i searched for it and found it at 99 cents. what perfect timing. anyway, the game is here in flash if you want to try it before you buy: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Ironhid ... ngdom-rush

i went to starbucks today and the app is walk tracker pro again. and more cat in the hat (same episode). what gives man.

And the song selection is some Jack Johnson live song which they had from last week too.

i guess they have so many left over that they just bleed to the following week.
