A particle that gives mass to matter has been discovered. I never even considered that such a thing was necessary. Weird.

Does anybody know anything about this?

One thought does come to mind though. According to the Mayan calendar, when's the world supposed to end?

That Dan Brown book Angels and Demons was based around this *previously* theoretical particle.

This particle is what they say is responsible for the Big Bang that created the universe. That's why it's nicknamed the "God particle".

so it's anti-matter? i thought that's what the thing in angels and demons was.

i wonder how they even got to discovering that thing.

Yeah, and "For teenagers studying A-level physics", filled in the missing gaps for me. ie. mass unaccounted for, yadda yadda.

well, besides blowing up the vatican, of course.

Experiments into ftl travel of course.
Unfortunately their first prototype ftl engine will have a design flaw and will explode catastrophically resulting in the entire universe being disassembled.

I read another article that I'd post here but I forgot it. Anyway, apparently that particle accelerator in angels and demons actually exisits.

Still, I wonder if it'd have any use. Like perhaps unlimited energy or something.

or making a new universe.
