Why would someone tab a riff like this:

Although they're the same notes, the feel of the notes on a higher fret (higher pitched and "twangier") is sometimes a better fit for certain songs.

^^^^ What G said.. but that goes doubly so for Bass riffs as the 'sound' as you move up the neck is even more distict for Bass guitars when amplified

hmmm... Okay. I guess it's worth learning songs the 'hard' way.

I wouldn't necessarily call it the "Hard" way as when the riffs become more elaborate, you'll appreciate having your hand up the neck as the frets are much closer together and thus "Easier" to do.

as per Benjamin Liu... you should always play the song EXACTLY like the original because it's the way the original artist meant to have it played...

but in general, heck, we all cheat on certain chords... if you want to play it a certain way then by all means. BUT, the real question is why are you taking up that kinda time to actually write out the tabs transposed on different strings when you could've spent that time actually learning the original tab?

Haha, that's according to Ben though. He will do a song in the original key even though it's way out of his vocal range.
Music is of course still up to your own musical interpretation.

We do many songs in church in different keys.

haha.. i know.. i was just saying in jest... if we did everything ben's way, we might as well play the cd for worship.. who the heck needs us?
