yup, filters out the brown. Survivor man on one episode made one himself and drank out of stale brown water. It's basically charcoal filters at both ends and some mesh filters.

That's it? Charcoal and mesh?
That's what Brita filters is too, but it didn't filter out the brown that time when we had that water problem in Vancouver.

That was from the show, i'm sure this thing has a lot more going on. It's suppose to filter out bacteria and worms.

maybe more charcoal is the trick? the filter on my fish tank is that too, but you can fit a lot more charcoal in that little pouch.
