Mike's big pot was just the start of it all... you should've seen the final outcome of the night. Mike's pot had dwindled compared to a few others at the end of the night.

there were a lot of ppl on tuesday night, and there's still a learning curve for people on mystery guy. especially in hi/lo games. when a big pot carries over, naturally the people who contributed to it want to try to scare off any other takers and try to "win their money back". they do this by over betting their next hand. But little do they realize the return on folding everyone out is 50% of your bet, even if you have the nuts for one of the hands.
i saw people go all in on hands, to try to push people out of the a carried pot, where there bets were actually "larger than the existing pot", if no one calls their bet and they only win one against mystery guy (which is easy, since you'd have to declare both), they are losing half their overbet, for only half of the carried over pot too.
