wtf fido

so starting about at least 2 weeks ago, i've been getting a call from a 1-877 number. i kept hanging up because it was always at a bad time, either i was sleeping or trying to get one of the kids to sleep or something. they were calling at least twice a day. i looked the number up online and it was one of fido's telemarketing things. i was thinking wtf, i asked to be taken off that list months ago.
anyway, today was the first time in the past couple weeks that i was finally able to answer the phone. the guy said that he was from some company on behalf of fido, and asked me to rate my experience with fido between 1 and 5. i said "uh... 4?" and he was like, "good, i'm glad to hear that you're satisfied. have a good day" and hung up.
seriously, 2 weeks of calling at least twice a day? i should have said 1, maybe they would have given me free stuff.

The next time they call, just tell them to put you on their "do not call" list.
They are regulated by law to maintain a DNC list, and they cannot refuse your request if you ask them to put you on it.

Just to clarify, this is different from the National Do Not Call list. The National DNC list is to stop unsolicited marketing calls.
Companies that you have a business relationship with, like your bank or cell phone company, can still call you. In those cases, my previous post would then apply.

the weird thing is that they told me it takes a month to get off that list, and i got a couple calls after that but they were good until now. i guess their excuse would be that they weren't soliciting anything, they were just doing a customer satisfaction survey.

I would actually even go as far as asking them to give you confirmation that he/she is going to do it. Usually, they will confirm that they will do it, and tell you that it will take up to 3-4 weeks for it to take effect.
I told all my business affiliations to do that, and I have gotten zero marketing calls for over 5 years now.

sometimes if they're rude or a total d-bag on the other line, i ask for their employee number and ask them to transfer me to their manager so i can complain too... haha.. i don't get calls very often anymore...

i once talked to blackberry support and the lady was trying to be overly friendly to me. she said she'll try to get me free stuff and things like that haha. i think she wanted to just get a good review from me, which i never gave lol.

speaking of fido, i was talking to sam the other day and he said his contract expired and he tried to re-up with fido with his current contract but they changed their policy so that they don't re-up legacy plans anymore. If you want to keep your current plan, you either stay un-contracted, or you re-up a new contract that they're currently offering. He said he talked to retentions a few times and each time he was turned away. He wanted to contract up so he could get a subsidized hardware upgrade.
i really hope this isn't true... i love my plan...

New plans are being announced on Feb 4th from Rogers, dunno if Fido will do the same.
