service starts at 7. it was 6:52 and NO ONE was here. was thinking maybe i could take off, but right at 6:54, people walk in. 11 people, to be exact (including one new person). i do my usual song and dance, go through the service and things are fine and dandy.
then i get up to preach. less than a third of the way through, i feel as though my nose is a faucet ready to flow. sniffling as quietly as i can, but completely unable to concentrate on my sermon notes (i don't preach off a manuscript anymore).
sermon sucked.
had to blow my nose hard after it. i'm sure everyone heard it as there was no music. being sick sucks.

man you've been sick forever. maybe you need just to take a couple days to get some much needed rest.

Have you tried getting a new toothbrush? Seriously, a lot of times people keep getting sick over and over again because they're recontaminating themselves with the germs left on their toothbrush.

Actually, that was debunked...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/2 ... 27310.htmlWell, except for bacterial infections... so I guess since your doctor gave you antibiotics, he thinks you may have had a bacterial infection, so maybe not a bad idea to change toothbrush after all.

also next time if you need to blow your nose, i say, you just do it mid-sermon or whatever... i don't think anyone would mind.

Just turn away from the mic first.
Are you getting enough sleep? ... or at least allowing yourself enough time for sleep?

taking days off doesn't do much because my wife thinks a day off for me means a day off for her (from the kids). i took some time off when i was really sick right after new year's, but a lot of good that did me as i was caring for the rest of the family that was more sick than me.
i've changed my toothbrush (head) twice since i got sick. will probably change it again once this cough dies down.
sleepwise is tough too. the only free time that i have is at night after the kids go to bed (midnight or later), so i usually just stay up a bit until around 2 (more often than not i'd be doing work that i didn't do during the day or something). but i get up around 8-9 (latest 10) for work, and i try to get up before the kids or winnie will think that i'm lazy for sleeping in. i don't doubt that this is a lack of sleep thing, but the problem is not having the time to sleep.

Lol that's some sound advice. I'm going to go neglect this cold and maybe call it names.
