i found this article quite compelling, and realise that maybe this is why i see people who have "perfect lives" always seem so sad. perhaps they're hiding from their hard past or pretending that life's problems don't get to them. either case, it seems that admitting failure is on the road to true happiness.

interestingly enough, they sort of touched on this in supernatural (lol). when bobby singer was trapped in his coma, his way out was to touch on his most horrible memory. facing and embracing your past, no matter how difficult and horrible, is the only way to get over it.

Approaching this from a parallel line, this is a lot of what we were doing in the Men's group with our sharings. Substitute "Family" for "community" and then you basically have a group of us who were sharing our past and present failures and successes. Coming out of it, I can honestly say that I feel a lot more of a connection with those members who really tried and engaged and our relationships have benefited greatly from it.

good stuff. i thought the men's group is done, that's why there was mention of going back to the subforum? perhaps i just misunderstood.

but that's awesome that this is what's already going on there.

Men's group is over for now but the effects of the group remain.

It is over, but I am in the final stages of putting together the particulars to start one up again every other Friday, probably at my place. It will be a smaller group this time as there will be homework and set expectations. It's too difficult for a group to grow without all parties being equally commited.

why did it even stop then?
