Back in Winnipeg there were like three other Chinese families around us... So one of them came into Canada and landed about the same time as us. The immigration officer himself was an immigrant from a loooooon time ago so when they landed and had to write down a phonetic english name, the dude wrote it out as

Mr.. Han Seung Shit

It took them two years to catch on before they legally changed the English name to Shuit

His son was in my class and his name was Sinclair. for two years.... Sinclair Shit....

tough, cuz there were a lot of racist hicks in our school too

I remember we knew someone with that last name too. My dad was trying to spell their last name and it came out 's-h-i-t'. I told him that I'm pretty sure it's not spelt that way, but he said that's how you say their last name. Can't remember if it was supposed to be an invitation or something. Mr. & Mrs. Shit. nice dad. I think you should write it in Chinese instead.

Well Dick Wang wasn't the greatest either, but how were the parents supposed to know. That's just unfortunate.

In high school, I knew a kid who was called Whiskey Nguyen.
At the apartment I worked at, there was a girl who picked a name for herself when she immigrated. She called herself Kinky. I asked her why she picked that name and if she knew what it meant, and she said someone called her that one time and she thought it sounded neat. I told her what it meant, and she blushed like crazy.. her boyfriend looked surprised and turned to her and asked her who called her that before. Then they started to argue in mandarin and left. We laughed like crazy in the office.
