http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c ... ttack.htmlIt's depressing to see how much racism there is here in BC. This video made pretty big headlines, but it's only a small portion of the racism picture here. This girl just so happened to run her mouth off and get caught on camera, but most of the racism in this city/province/country happens more subtley which is more disturbing than public racism in my opinion.
If you look around at all the news posts about this video, try reading all the comments. SO much racism in the comments. Lots of them applauding the racist girl in the video and some wondering why this is such a big deal, etc.

To be fair, there are also a lot of people who are equally disgusted by this act of racism as well.

i've been told to go back where i came from before. ironically, i was driving ON burrard near georgia. seeing as how i was born at st. paul's, i really couldn't have been that much closer to where i came from.

after watching it again (the first time i had the volume way down b/c i'm still at work), i can see the protester really egging that other chick on. sure, that doesn't warrant spitting and hitting and such, but what would you expect from poking a drunk person who's already angry?

I dunno... I'm having a tough time feeling sorry for the victim on this one. I mean, you're out there with your niece and you're taunting people? Not too bright. You're out there picking fights with people... what do you expect??
And as for the racist remarks, what do you expect?? 'Yo mama so fat' jokes?

yeah, that's what i'm thinking too. sure, she probably shouldn't have gotten hit or spit on, but the derogatory comments matched the derogatory comment on her sign.
in case you missed it in the link i posted:
if i were a cowboy, i'd be offended by that. cowboys are heroes, not cowards.

I don't think her sign is derogatory. Cowboys are cowboys by trade (cattle ranching), not for entertainment. Rodeos are purely for entertainment, and this girl's sign is protesting the rodeo because of the cruelty to animals. She's not protesting cowboys specifically.

Not saying her choice of words is great, but that's freedom of speech. Racial slurs, on the other hand, are considered discrimination.

The police are still investigating, and according to some witnesses, the supposed "victim" brought on the racist remarks. Before the video started recording, she was heard saying something like, "I'm not Hindu, I'm Muslim, so you better watch it or your house might get bombed". Don't know how true any of this hearsay is, but really, both these women need to grow up.
