seriously though, this worries me. it's clear that society has gone virtual over the last 20 years, and pornography is probably a big reason for it. i'm considering doing what that 80's family did and take away the internet. either that or just start a whole new community out in the woods or something.

i've committed to not giving my kids their own computers or internet on their phones until probably they're out of highschool. I know it's easier said than done but i'm gonna try to keep it from them as long as i can.

There will be a family computer in a public space of the house. Plus, i'm smart enough to do internet monitoring and filtering so i know what they're surfing. As for smart phones or whatever they'll be called when my girls are old enough to use them, i'll just give them a phone w/o internet. If they need something looked up when they're out, they can call me or a friend like we used to do... ala "hey, are you in front of a computer?" remember those days? lol

if they need peace and quiet to do homework in the public space, i'll make sure there's peace and quiet.

Having a girl is just as bad, or even worse. They're the subject of these perversions, voluntarily or not.

i'm thinking we'll probably have a computer in a public place too, but mobile computing is getting so rampant since the advent of the laptop that who knows what it'd look like when our kids are older. i was thinking about moving into the woods and starting my own amish community, but then i was thinking that maybe instead of hiding from this, perhaps dealing with it head on would be a better way to raise my kids to be respectable.

like just how i'm fine with playing violent video games with ryan now, as long as i'm explaining how this violence is fake and for video games only so he doesn't act it out in real life (he has a pretty good grip on reality vs virtuality at this point), i wonder if there's a way to teach him that if he views porn or is somehow exposed to it, to teach him that it's fake and women don't like getting beat up during sex.

but really, the only way that i can think of doing that is to watch porn with him. and that'd be weird.

in a few years it'll be virtual porn.
