Any of you get wifi working through concrete? If so, what did you use?

Is concreet on purpose?
Either case, no. I thought it wasn't possible.

Haha ok. But again, i thought given the nature of concrete and he nature of wifi (or most over-the-air waves) would make it impossible. But i could just not be understanding correctly the nature of either.

drill a hole through the concrete and stick an antenna through the opening. problem solved.

Concrete doesn't completely block wifi signals, but it really dampens it a lot. In my apartment (I'm on the ground floor), if I go to the area in the parking right below my suite, I can get a weak signal. That's through concrete, pipes and insulation.

What's your situation though? Are you trying to go between different floors? Is there a concrete wall within your apartment?

i would imagine that the concrete isn't solid though right? like, if you were to make a solid concrete box, and put a wifi device in there and seal it, there wouldn't be any signal going in and out would there? in the strictest sense, concrete would, i think, completely block signal.

however, having said that, of course there is no such thing as a solid concrete box, and if there were, i don't think any of us would spend any time trying to get into it and if we did, i don't think we'd be worried about surfing the net when inside (unless you wanted to send an email calling for help). i would think if you were trying to get signal in a concrete-walled/floored place you would just need a stronger router with a broader scope (bigger antennas or better placement of said router) that would hopefully find its way around the cracks, gaps, doors, windows and glory holes.

hm.
run a cable out of your window down to the parking lot? haha. or put your router closer to the window? i dunno.

Yeah, that's a tough one. I don't have a way to go through concrete, but I was gonna suggest a network of access points or something like in-line networking through the power outlets, depending on the situation. If it's for something like your situation though, you're a bit out of luck.

Are there any wifi signals you can hack from down there? haha

yeah, even depending on the layout of the garage you might not even get cellular down there.

Sounds I think I might be out of luck. I could try and stick my router out the window and see if that helps but even if I did get a signal it probably wouldn't be good enough to stream anything.

I wonder if I would be able to sneak an Ethernet cable down the elevator shaft. haha. Fat chance.
