Just wondering what you think are some fun board games. I was thinking of giving one as a gift but I don't really play them much myself. A while ago someone somewhere mentioned Star Trek Catan. Any others? If it was STtNG it would be perfect. As for STtOS... maybe a bit less so.
Anyway, just curious.

Catan just rocks regardless of the skin. I think the TOS one would still be good as it wouldn't be Character specific, but more environment specific.
Depending on their level of Geekdom / Age
Puerto Rico 3 hours
Bang 1 hour
Fireball Island 1-2hours
Samurai Swords 5 hours
I still want to try Diplomacy as I think that I'd love it. FYNN!!!!!!!
But Catan is still my favourite

They have Settlers and love it. Not sure if ST would be different enough, though.
I'm pretty sure they have Bang.
1-2 hours would probably be max; they have young kids.
I'll try and take a look at Fireball Island.

Things ppl would do to play fireball island, ask Nat about that.
Yeah, diplomacy is still sitting brand new in the box. Set it up.

poker? i don't even know her!
i'm sick of that line haha.
the problem with board games is that it's hard to have late-comers into the game *cough cough*. and you can't leave early either. not really at least.

The good thing about board games is that it's not open ended, so it lasts 2-3 hours max. Plus, it's more inclusive.. the women of our tribe can feel like they can join in, vs poker where they all obviously don't enjoy at all.
And it'd be nice just to change things up a bit.

I opted for Pandemic. I liked that it was coop and thought it might make a good family game in a few years.
