US VPN for US Netflix/Hulu

Hey, thinking about paying a couple bucks to get a US VPN and have a router dedicated to it. I ordered Google Chrome Cast

Any thoughts on this or anyone have existing one I can bum?

There are some pretty good free ones out there. I'm using unlocator.com
It's not a VPN though... they have a DNS set up, so you just have to change your DNS settings on either your router or the network adapter on your specific device (ie computer, Chrome Cast, PS3, etc). The website has instructions.

I have my main TV and one of the ipads set up on US netflix and the bedroom TV and the other ipad on Canadian (Downton Abbey)

No, just one. Your Netflix account is tied to the Global library. Everything that Netflix offers. What happens is that when you power up your device to log on to Netflix, the server checks your DNS settings to "see" where you are logging in from and then filters your catalog. So by manually entering in different DNS addresses for my devices, I get different catalogs.

The basic Netflix subscription allows for 2 simultaneous connections.

no, i wasn't talking about number of connections, i thought you'd need two, one for american and one for canadian. i always hear people referring to it as such, so i just thought that's how it worked. but jai made sense of it for me.

still, i think i'm too cheap to pay $7/mo or whatever it is for it haha.

it's $7.99/mo, first month free and you can share accounts with people as long as you don't log in at the same time... we get free netflix because brendon's gf subscribes and never uses it lols

i guess it's if we watch tv too. everything we watch (like 2-3 shows) is totally downloadable, and we just record the 2 kids shows that the kids like to watch.
