Everybody's allowed to make a mistake a few times. Any mistake. Any mistake at all. That's the North American way.
"Woah, woah, woah... It's not our fault that giant chunks of ice started falling off the cables of the Port Mann. We weren't expecting it to snow in Vancouver. Ever. Not our fault. We'll have to review our safety protocols. That should make everything right... right?"
"The train got derailed because there was snow and ice on the rails? Not our fault. We weren't expecting snow. Ever. This is only Canada after all, and transporting goods over rails is a very new technology. Not our fault. We'll have to review our safety protocols. That should make everything right... right?"
I'm just waiting for:
"Giant oil spill in the Northern Gateway? Not our fault. There was an earthquake. We could hardly be blamed for that. We'll review our safety protocols and do better next time. That will make everything right... right?"
"Tsunami sinks oil tanker off the coast? Not our fault. Not our problem. Act of God. Now go and clean it up."
Sorry for the rant.
