Whats with the non padded columns (pads probably wouldnt have done much anyways at those speeds). Maybe a netting to prevent people from flying off the track?

the sun says that the track might be too fast, and that the design was on the outer part of the speed limits. some italian guy almost crashed because of the speed, but he managed to hold on.

There've been quite a few incidents around Whistler already too. Nothing like the luger one though, but still. It's looking pretty grim right now.

did you guys see the opening ceremonies? they showed the crash in hd man. waaaaaay more graphic then that fuzzy stuff i posted earlier.

CTV showed the crash all day during their regular newscasts on Friday. My family was watching the opening ceremonies at Fortune Garden and caught the post-ceremony news, along with footage of the crash.

I think CTV made a mistake in airing the crash.

They've taken it off now. They actually released a public statement saying that they will never show that video again during the Olympics.

Personally, I agree with Joe. It's one thing showing a crash like that if the guy survives. But if he doesn't, it's just... really, really disturbing. Kinda like watching a snuff film.
