I guess they need to put some disclaimers on not riding these things nearby cliffs.

i don't see how it can be an accident... if you're going to fall off a cliff and your segway's not responding, don't you just step off and watch your segway commit suicide w/o you?

Wow, the creator of the segway died by his own creation.
The guy was 62 years old though and maybe he couldn't move fast enough to get off before he reach the cliff edge.

was he the actual creator of the thing or just the owner of the company that puts them out?

He was not the creator, but that doesn't kill the irony.
He was the ceo of his own company that recently bought out segway. Where's the irony? His company is the leading manufacturer of railings, fences and other retaining structures.
