can't you just have your funds desposited into USD account and then buy CDN when the cdn goes back down? Or do you already do that?

yeah it's definetly been some time since it's gone back down to the 70-80 cents range...
blame the cdn economy for turning over so quickly... it's driving my mortgage rates up too
...

I wouldn't really complain that much considering that our parents were dealing with 16-18% mortgage rates back in the late 70's and 80's. Cost of borrowing is really ridiculously cheap. That's why people are overspending so much. You've already got a good start in buying your place so no worries. People who plan on buying really should consider buying before interest rates go back to double digits (could happen by 12 years time) whatever you're overpaying in a seller's market wouldn't compare to paying an extra 8% over 25 years, compounded. A bubble burst will not see pricing come down by more than 15% IMHO.

hey, do you guys know what the difference is between the edl's and just the regular new style dl's? or are they the same (they look the same iirc).
i just ask because i want to go to the states but winnie's passport expired and renewing it is a pain in the beehive (with a kid that is). but since she has the new style dl's i was wondering if that's good enough.
either that or i'm going to the states by myself lol.

No.. the new styles are not good enough. The EDL's have more data stored on the card and an extra hologram.

Why is it such a pain to reapply??? you should probably get Ryan a passport at the same time. You can download all the necessary documents online. You can be the guarantor for Ryan, and Kitty or Patrick can be the guarantor for Winnie. One trip to the photo studio (there's a good one on Kingsway for infants right by the subway and Sammy J's), and everything else is done via Canada Post. A week and a half later, ding dong, the mail man shows up with two passports at your door.
If she didn't let it expire and actually did a renewal online, that would have been even easier. It's hardly challenging or difficult unless you're SUPER lazy.
