http://www.vancouversun.com/business/Pl ... story.htmlWho in their ultimate wisdom designed a roof in a rainy city like Vancouver to not be able to close in the rain?? You'd think $500 million would buy you more foresight than that.
All I can say now is - RAINOUT!

it sounds like they didn't have a choice. it had to be done that way.
and rain outs only happen for baseball. they never rain out football (i thought at least).

i don't think you read the article carefully enough. they can't open or retract it WHEN there are strong winds or heavy rain. but they can do it before said wind and/or rain.
so they have to keep a close eye on the weather and preemptively open/close accordingly. what they're worried about is when there's a flash rain storm or wind storm (which hardly happens in this predictable vancouver weather).

Oh yeah, you're right...
That's still dumb though... not sure why we went with a retractable roof still. Retractable roofs are usually for places where there's more sun than rain. In Vancouver we get like 3 months of sun, and football season is mostly in fall/winter season when there's more rain than anything.

So, ummm.... I guess that means that if they open the roof in November, they won't be able to close it again until... June? That's smrt.
