Okay, I was think about this when I keep getting pwnd by Daffy on routes going to different places. I'm pretty bad with directions, but for routes that I'm familiar with and were previously confident that were fastest, I get pwnd by Daffy for some reason.
So here's what we do in this thread. Post routes where you usually go or have gone and want to know a better way. If you know of a better way or different route, then post up a reply to the original route to suggest it.
I know there's Googles maps and GPS, etc... but the routes there aren't always the best in terms of avoiding traffic, small street shortcuts, and stuff like that.
I'll start:
My work to home (Nelson Rd and Westminster Hwy Richmond to Lougheed Hwy and Beta Ave, Burnaby)
Westminster Hwy to Knight St turnoff
Knight St to 41st Ave
41st Ave to Boundary
Boundary to Lougheed
Lougheed to Beta
Takes me 45 mins in rush hour traffic.

My work to home:
Walk down to Dunsmuir to Stadium Station.
Take Skytrain to Patterson Station.
Walk up Patterson St.
Takes em about 30 minutes irregardless of traffic.

did you try turning on no 6 rd and take the bridgeport on ramp? that could save you a few minutes.
and instead of going straight to 41st to boundary, try 55th to rupert/kerr, take the kerr turn off near killarney secondary, over to joyce, down joyce, boundary, right on kincaid, kincaid to gilmore, gilmore to lougheed, then lougheed to your house.
alternatively you can keep going on gilmore to whatever street that is behind the mall, cut through the mall parking lot and go to your house.
it might take longer with all the turns, but at least you'll almost always be moving.

more lanes doesn't necessarily mean that the road is faster. it only means that it needs more lanes (i.e. more traffic).
however, marine usually has a lot of cars but it always seems to flow pretty quickly for me. but then, i usually drive on the far right lane unless i have to turn left or weave through more traffic.

i usually go on marine regardless of traffic unless it's REALLY bad... that's the route i've been taking for years living in bby. I find it the fastest because there's less waiting for turns here and there.. Lougheed is pretty bad though. You might wanna try Still Creek or Henning from boundary all the way to willingdon. If you take still creek you can't make a left onto willingdon, but you can go take the underpass towards costco and make a right onto willingdon once you're on the other side. Or you can take dawson and go straight across willingdon and left on to beta and up across lougheed.
