Probably a combination of staff shortages and every single ticket being disputed.

quick, somebody get a ticket and dispute it just to see how long it takes to get into court...

they've had this problem before. but apparently, it's a myth that your ticket gets thrown out if you don't get your court date within a year of disputing. ask me how i know.

a lot of drivers out there don't dispute their tickets anyway. they're too lazy and it's just easier to pay it.

i don't believe you... please disprove me and get a ticket then try to dispute it...

I've been screwed over by cops ticketing me for stuff that I didn't do more than for stuff that I deserved. Like, at a 2 way stop where I did a bit of a rolling stop even though I had ample time to look the one single direction that really mattered in that intersection. Or another time when I made a decision that going through the yellow light was safer than doing a screaching stop in the rain and possibly being stuck in the intersection. And yet another time where they gave me an excessive speeding ticket for $325 and the cop said I was doing over 100kmh when I was actually just a bit over 70km/h (which also is impossible because I was driving a crappy old Nissan Altima that couldn't even go that fast).

Anyway... I do agree that there are way too many people who dispute tickets for the chance of the cop not showing.

yeah that happened to me a few times, that's why i always argue the heart of the law over the letter of the law.

but i'll be honest, i used to dispute in hopes that the cop didn't show. but now i don't even bother. but then i hardly get any tickets now.

did you ever go into court and have the cop show up? just curious as to what you'd say to the judge when the cop shows.

"umm, i didn't do it?"

yeah, the cop showed up maybe half the time.
i just said that i'm a student and can't afford to pay the ticket (which was true). and they would either reduce the fine or push the deadline back a few months.

i've never disputed a ticket. but it's hard to get a ticket when my primary mode of transportation is public transit.

I do wish that there would be more money from tax dollars funneled to getting me a timely mri though. lol.

i purposely was redundant on purpose for purposeful reasons.

no, i'm sure i drove you out somewhere in the boondocks for court.
and hid bulbs in stock housings are illegal.
