after looking at gordon's calculations, i'm think what they should do instead of increasing minimum wage is to disallow full time employees to be paid minimum wage.
if you think about it, most of the part timers are students or kids living with their parents. their jobs aren't necessarily to help them survive, but to teach them responsibility. if they're good at what they do, then go ahead and give them a raise.
if they're full time, then they're probably living off of what they're making, in which case they probably need more to survive. i wouldn't have a problem with helping those who are struggling to make ends meet.
