yeah, they limited their market for sure by doing that, but from what i read the reason they did that is for security reasons. the blackberries are already bulletproof in the way of email security, and because the playbook is on a different os they couldn't guarantee the same level of security for it by launch date (which was already pushed back several times), so bridging the phone's security over to the tablet was the way to go for them.

that's how playbooks are now standard issue for government officials in the states and i think russia or something like that. i think local law enforcement are using them too or something.

os2 promises to have native email and calendar clients, but i still think it's a little too late.

having said all that, i love how my playbook bridges to my phone, i find it annoying having to check all my emails over 3 devices (home computer, work computer, phone) when i've read the message already. with the playbook paired to my phone, i don't have to worry about reading it yet another time.

uhh.. get with the program, that's called imap... marking it as read on one device will mark it as read on all devices... if i check my email at home or on my phone, it's marked as read for all devices...

and imap is a protocol... it's not i[whatever] from apple... just to be clear haha

oh really? i never knew that haha, i saw it in the email settings but i never played with it.

having said that, my calendar then on my phone and playbook are always the same without any effort, and certain documents too.

You wouldn't have any of these troubles with using gmail. People only really put up with having to deal with Blackberry because they use it for work. Not having to use it for work, I can't really see the benefit of using Blackberry email clients.

My gmail syncs up between all my devices super easily, calendar and everything.

i'm not on bes, but i have a feeling that to use your gmail calendar, you'd need internet access. i can read my emails and check my calendar on the plane if i wanted (which of course isn't exclusively a blackberry thing).

The gmail calendar syncs with most device calendars, like the iphone native one, Outlook and obviously with Android tablets.

oh i guess so. that's what my native calendar does, except with a million different calendars (work, personal, facebook, bbm groups, etc).

One of my vendors came in today to talk to us. He got the new BB 9900. It looks pretty nice.

i was all about the 9900 when they announced it, but apparently it has spontaneous bricking issues.

i don't think i'd pick up a bb os7 device since they're already announced a new os.
