multiplier or cash for cash?

how about we play tournament cash games. we all buy in the same amount. we play for a couple hours. we mark every win everyone gets (including split pots) with chips. at the end, the person with most chips gets the most cash, and we prorate the amount of chips everyone else has and it trickles down from there.

I think we stopped doing tournaments because we never have enough people.

no we stopped because we got bored of it. we wanted to play a variety of games instead of the same game for hours.

i guess if you want to work on your craft, and really improve your poker skills, playing at donkey tables is possibly not the best sort of practice.

Well, cash games and $4 raise limits isn't exactly the best way to improve your poker skills anyway.
Plus playing with friends doesn't help either. The best way to get better is playing against strangers in a real tournament for real moneys.

honestly, i don't see anything wrong with what we're doing... we just gotta be a little more careful with the pot... maybe have a pitboss style thing where there always has to be a spotter when cashing in or out... i always try to get someone to verify my cash out before i actually pick up the bills...

i like how our low buy in fosters a mix of serious/donkey action and overall good times... i think the problem isn't messed up cash outs, but instead we don't have enough people boozing it up haha

let's just be more careful then. every time we buy in, double check your stack (even in the first round). when you cash out, have someone double check it. sometimes people cash out early and they just put their stack right into the box. next person to do that gets a knuckle massage. from the daff, of course.
