i forgot to leave a review. so it turns out it's just the little restaurant at the coast hotel off denman. the service was a little too much (waitress accidentally took away ryan's fork and after she found it, she left winnie a message with her home phone number to pick it up) but good, and we actually got 50% off. so for the 5 of us adults (ryan is supposed to be $2) it came to under $100.

the prime rib was the wedding style chop and slice as you go, which i didn't expect, but it wasn't bad. wasn't as good as the stuff i had in saskatoon, but definitely worth the sub-$20 we paid.

i thought the food was ok. especially considering it was "buffet" style. without the 50% off, i think it can be worth it if you eat a lot. (16+oz )

if a 25$ prime rib entree is usually enough for you then, you're best bet is probably to go elsewhere.

well, to be honest i don't know if i'd spend $30 at a place like that. sorta seemed like a dive, i guess typical of older style hotel restaurants. it wasn't fine dining for sure.

food wise it wasn't bad i guess. the meat was tender enough and tasted ok. the only reason why i have reservations about the food is because winnie's first piece was dry as heck but i never had a problem with any of the pieces that i got. value-wise i'd say it's decent, as buffets usually ring up a bit higher than if you were to go to a regular restaurant and eat (uncle willy's is like $15 now i think). i could probably eat 30+ dollars of meat and potatoes, but that doesn't mean i need to.

speaking of prime rib roasts... alicia's mom made it one the other day, ugh, i swear, she needs to learn how to make roasts too... i've never had one juicy tender roast in that house... she likes to cook it with very little seasoning, and she doesn't tie the thing down, and she always cheaps out on the cut. not to mention, apparently nobody in that house likes any pink in their beef... wtf eh? the rarest part of that roast was medium at best... dry as heck, chewy and tough like jerky too... don't mean to sound spoiled because i don't often cook for myself, but man, she needs to learn how to cook her proteins... every roast (beef or pork) is always tough and dry...
