Once Upon a Time

i think this show is getting dumb. it started off great but it's almost like the writers ran out of ideas or something. there doesn't seem to be any continuity in either world anymore but rather they're just trying to make short almost stand alone stories in both worlds that somehow relate to each other. i was hoping that they'd focus on one main story in both worlds and throw in very subtle side characters, like how red riding hood and her granny are obvious as to who they are, but they have no big part in the story.

i'd rather see more of how snow white and prince charming develop a relationship, since they're supposedly main characters and the whole reason there's a curse to begin with. so who gives a rat's ass about hansel and gretal?

You forget that ABC is a Disney company. and Disney TV shows are all about self contained episodes.

the first half of the season wasn't all that self-contained, it just became more so after that cop died.

These are filler episodes.. all TV shows have them.
All the Star Trek series had an abundance of these filler episodes.

I guess we've been kinda spoiled now by storyline shows like 24, Lost, Prison Break, etc

star trek and the older action/drama series were all self contained pretty much. but now it seems all shows are leaning towards the soap opera model of having longer dragged out stories (er started the trend i think), rather than shows that you can watch without necessarily having to watch previous episodes.

most shows now wouldn't make any sense if you just watched an episode out of the blue. however, the last couple episodes of once upon a time seemed like they could have.

I actually liked the Hansel and Gretel episode.. It gave a bit of a look into the queen's personality and why she likes kids.

Sorry, not "why" she likes kids... I meant that it showed that she does like kids.

She offered the twins everything to keep them with her.. and for some reason she clings onto to Henry and seems to care about him even though she's an evil biat*h

i thought henry was for sentimental reasons. her dad's name was henry.

although, i wonder if it has something to do with snow white. she keeps talking about how snow white took everything from her, i wonder if snow white being her step daughter has anything to do with it. like, if her desire to have her own kids was foiled because of snow white? i dunno.

She adopted the baby then named him Henry.

yeah, she adopted a kid and named her henry after her dad for sentimental reasons. it doesn't seem like she likes kids with how she treats him.

i thought she didn't like kids, so much as she saw that they could be used? and she didn't offer hanzel and gretyl the world because she liked them or like kids, it seemed like she did it to test if they could be bought. Kinda like she's trying to figure out why people love snow white so much and not her when she's got everything to offer and snow white seems like a little puke to her...

It's the only way she knows how to show love, I guess.

I thought she was trying to find out how she can get people to love her, that's why she asked H&G's father how he got his kid's love and devotion.
