So Ikea Richmond is having an auction tomorrow, anyone going?

joel said that people were camping out before ikea opened.

i hate to be the one to break it to them that ikea sells FURNITURE.

so i went to the new ikea yesterday. didn't have much time to walk around, but the restaurant area was pretty inviting and the parking was awesome (family parking, that is).

i like how they had a recycling depot too.

Recycling used furniture or just a regular recycling depot for like bottles and stuff?

actually, it was for florescent tubes, high efficiency bulbs, regular bulbs and batteries. they have 4 holes in the wall by the washrooms, and you just drop your stuff in them. i thought it was a good idea (something i thought about for our church, but my council was totally against it).

Oh, there are lots of places that will help you recylce those things.. no need to go all the way to Richmond.

really? if that's the case they don't display it well. ikea was the first place that i noticed does that without having to ask anyone or find out through a google search.

London Drugs has a big bin full of used light bulbs in the light bulb aisle. They also have a huge bin of used batteries in the battery aisle. They're both labeled "recyling" haha. London Drugs even has coupons attached to those recycling bins where you get a certain $$ value towards new energy efficient bulbs if you trade in old bulbs. I saw a similar display at Home Depot too. It's part of a government energy saving program.

I can't say that every London Drugs or Home Depot has them, but the ones that I've been to always did.

oh really? i guess i don't go to either of them enough to notice it. london drugs always seems pretty cluttered to me, so maybe i wasn't paying attention? dunno.
