Star Trek Babes and other ST related Goodness

I didn't like ds9 the first 3 or 4 times I watched the series, but by the 5th time I started to appreciate it more. Still way better than daytime soaps.

i liked that ds9 was still in the ST universe that we knew. klingons, romulans, ferengis, cardasians, etc...
the whole religious undertones were a bit hokey i admit... and jake sisco is about the most useless character in the ST franchise.

b/c voyager was set in some distant quadrant, it just seemed like that had no rules in writing voyager... even the premise that a starfleet captain would integrate a terrorist group into her crew seems far fetched from the get go. and that 2 members of that senior staff would be from that group and then a 3rd was a former member and a starfleet washout... and if you consider their previous appearances in ST franchises paris was also an academy washout as cadet locarno, and tuvoc was another terrorist as devor on the TNG baryon sweep episode...

i think when it comes down to it, tng was the best hands down, and depending on what you liked about tng, you will be comparing the others to it.
some liked the writing of tng, so i think ds9 was more like that, while others (like me), liked the encounters with different worlds and stuff like that, which voyager still had. enterprise was just a joke.

one thing that i didn't like about voyager though was that it wasn't "smart". tng was super smart in that they had real problems with real solutions. voyager had some ridiculous problem and they threw out some techno-babble and viola, the day is saved.

What least interested me about TNG were:
Maquis
Cardassians/Bajorans

I think that's why it took me so long to get into them.

I did start to get a little bored about how TNG and TOS were so heavily based on exploration. So, when Voyager came around with a mission other than exploration, I found myself quite interested... for the first couple of episodes. Then I realized that they wouldn't accomplish their mission until the end of the series and I was disappointed... back to exploration.

i don't really like the klingons either. usually i tune out the tng episodes featuring the klingons. maybe it was because worf was such a dork.

what i meant by "fold in space" is that you enter into the wormhole from one point and then emerge at another point, as if space itself were "folded". that fold can look like anything, in that you can enter at any random point and come out at any other random point. a conduit is much more like a tunnel in that it has fixed entry points, and instead of "transporting" you from one point to another, you're actually travelling that distance at an alarming rate.
