I followed the Olympics headlines. Watched some of the non-commentated medal events online.
About the badminton, I watched some of the lose-on-purpose matches. It was really really pathetic, serving into the net, serving out of the court. Ugly to watch. If I was there watching, I think I would have booed them too.
That said, not completely their (the players') fault since they (Olympics/IBF) had changed the rules this year and made it an issue. Regular tournament rules doesnt open the door to this kind of problem with the match-fixing.
But apparently, it is against the rules, somewhere in the IBF (international badminton federation) rules is something about you must try your hardest. Makes sense to me. The whole point of competition in sport is to win. So throwing a game is not allowed.
