everyone gets dealt two covered cards to start, en route to a 7 card stud game. the last card can be covered if you want, but basically after the two covered cards are dealt, the next card in the deck is flipped up for everyone to see. then everyone puts a max $2 bid in their hand and reveals their bid at the same time. Highest bidder gets to choose whether to take the card or toss it into someone's hand. If there is a tie for the winning bid, then the max bid doubles, and keeps doubling until there's a winning bid. Only those who tied the winning bid can keep bidding.
Also, no one can take another card if they already have the card for the auction round. So say we're on the first bidding round (meaning everyone only has 2 covered cards at the moment), and jai wins the first bid and takes the card, he cannot take the next card and put it in his hand. He can still bid but if he wins, he can only give it to someone else. Basically, everyone has to have the same amount of cards after a round of auctioning. After everyone has the same amount of cards (in our example, everyone has 2 covered and 1 face up), there is a betting round. If there are no bids on a card that gets flipped up, then the card is discarded and nobody gets the card and the next card is flipped up for bidding. When there is only 1 person left missing a card for the round, he gets the next card in the deck. This means that he gets the card for free, but at the same time, he doesn't get to choose the card because there are no bids. If the deck runs out, then too bad so sad. It worked ok with 4 players, but i imagine it'd be hard to keep discarding cards with 5+ players
After all said and done, it's whoever has the best hand in a 7 card stud game
i really should be working
