so i got a chance to watch it.
i was already looking forward to being disappointed after i heard about the whole trilogy.
so if you go watch, expect it not to follow the original plot. I would say about two-thirds of the movie is not from the actual hobbit novel. a lot of this they provide some backdrop or further explanation of details the hobbit just never discusses, as well as some build up to try more closely link the story to the "lord of the rings".
because of all the new additions, i think the plot pace is thrown off a bit transitioning from these "new elements" from the original ones.
also the cinematography or special filming they used, give the movie that "documentary" style, that those higher frequency TVs achieve. I know there are some people who really don't like it and prefer the traditional less "live" looking style.
traditionalists will probably hate the guts out of this movie. it's ok. but nowhere as awesome as i thought it would be when i first heard about it. at least peter jackson seemed to represent dwarves better this time as opposed to what he did to "gimli" in the LOTR.
