I don't think this is just a bb policy. I've heard of companies doing that with shoes too. Instead of donating to the needy, they would rather shred them and throw them out. Instead of donating expired, (but still edible) food to the needy, grocery stores would rather throw it out.

too late, they are gone. Left 2 of them outside on different occassions, one was just this past Thursday. Both times, it was gone the next day.
