the picture seemed so obscure and i wasn't sure what i was looking for. i read some of the answers after about 3 seconds of wondering what was going on and they don't all seem to agree.

Was there a significant anniversary of 'flight'? I thought I heard something about it as a preview in the theatre. Not sure though.
There was that Ikea monkey thing... but not sure if that was big enough.

and it's spelled psy
and i guess words with friends is there too.

the thing is that the picture is an interpretation of events, like darth vader with a box doesn't necessarily mean that disney bought lucasfilm unless you think that he's being transferred. some guy said that the car in the water is the apple maps fail. that could be anything.

yeah, that's what i mean. in the comments some guy said that the big ape is lance armstrong on drugs, because of the gold medal. why an ape?
like, we can know the stories but it's hard to know what is what because the picture leaves so much for interpretation.

not to mention that the above two examples weren't really things that happened on the internet. the ikea monkey and psy yes, but not disney and armstrong.

The ape with the medal with the blue torch is the London 2012 Olympics. It was cold and rainy.
I don't know why it's an ape. Maybe 'cause the official mascot looked like a penis and they wanted to make the page PG?

You think nobody on social media had an opinion on a $1B bailout program for Egypt when their own economy was in the toilet?

I guess it just depends on what you consider an internet event.
