i think pastors still have to pay taxes, they just get different tax breaks/deductions that most poeple don't.

yea, i read it's a deduction, but it's a huge one... so unless you're making like 100k (i don't know the real figure, just making up a number) or something, you don't pay taxes

No,pastors pay income tax, but a huge chunk of my salary (like 40%) is my housing allowance, which is tax free. That makes my taxable income very small, but given that i have 3 dependants that don't make money and i still donate to the church, i get everything back. This year i signed a form stating the above and i pay much less each month now too, which means i'll get less back at the end of the year. That's ok because i have more in my pocket now.

yea, i have been contemplating filling that form out too but at the end of the day, i have a feeling i'd just spend the extra amount i get back in taxes for each pay period anyways... i'd rather get a big tax return all at once even though i could've made interest on that money had i got it back right away and invested it... maybe i'll do that too if/when we buy a place
