So, my theory is, the whole killing agent Hand thing was all staged so Ward can infiltrate Hydra. Agent Hand was a little too uncharacteristically enthusiastic about killing Bill Paxton.

i thought that too, but i'm not sure. like, when did they hatch that plan? who hatched that plan?
it could have been nick fury working with chun li, and that's why they recruited ward to begin with (she put the team together), but that doesn't explain the casual sex between her and ward. it's like they should have started all missions with this one and left out the other missions that seem to contradict what's going on here.

it's getting exciting, but there are too many plot holes right now, almost as though they're throwing things in randomly without having thought of it before (so not exactly integrated or making sense with previous story lines). sorta like how 24 was going in seasons 5-7.

i read a quick review, and apparently for this episode to have made sense, you need to have watched captain america 2. that was nice of them. but i guess a lot of marvel (and dc) comics work like that, they refer to other comics and storylines to give the illusion that the world is much bigger than just this one story.

The plan itself isn't very complicated... pretend to kill agent Hand, gain Garrett's trust, infiltrate Hydra. They could've planned that on the fly.

I'm not sure if the purpose of choosing agent Ward had anything to do with the Hydra threat, because no one, not even Fury, knew who was part of Hydra. May said her own personal mission was to observe Coulson. She was just as surprised about the Hydra thing as everyone else. The whole using Coulson to root out Hydra was part of Fury's larger plan, which I think May didn't really know much about or wasn't involved in it.

Yeah, I need to watch CA2 now. I'm glad that they're linking the movie world with the tv show world, but I wish they gave us a bit of warning that we should watch the movie first.

A cool reference in the show, relevant to the continuity in the different movie/tv worlds.

When Garrett was being chased by drones, he called out to "SHIELD 616" for help. SHIELD 616 is the codename for Coulson's plane, which they nicknamed The Bus.
Earth-616 is actually the mainline Marvel universe where everything/one is connected. So, the SHIELD 616 plane, which we first found out in this episode, is referencing the fact that all these Marvel storylines are being connected. Well... just this Avengers franchise, I guess.

I guess I was as wrong about the Agent Ward thing as you were about the May being Skye's mom thing, haha. There's still a chance that Ward is a double agent though.

after hearing and reading that this show was picking up steam, i finally caught up to all but last night's episode. It's getting better for sure because i pretty much lost interest around episode 4ish.

I think Ward is a double agent too. His character seemed to change teams way to easy, but the holes is why would he kill innocent guys like the dude in the wheelchair or the two shield agents on the plane who were sitting beside paxton. But i think his feelings for Skye are real because when Lorelei said that he wanted Skye when he was under her control.

if ward is a double agent, as in he's actually still shield infiltrating hydra, it must have come straight from fury. and i think i actually prefer it if he were hydra, because then it would really deviate this show from all the other superhero "the good guys can't do any wrong" cliche tv shows and tread into the 24 "freaking everyone except jack bauer is a traitor" waters.

like i said, it's almost like they had an overhaul of writers. i wonder if they show wasn't doing so well, so they brought in a team or something that specializes in fixing crappy scripts, saw what they had to work with, and then came up with all these very crazy plot twists to make it way way way better.

so i have a prediction of what's going to happen by the end of the season or maybe the beginning of next season.
ward is going to fall for skye so bad that he'll defect hydra and give the new shield (likely run by acting director maria hill just like in the comics... only because she was mentioned by chun li's mom in the last episode) inside info to overturn them. ward will be on the "blacklist" for a while, maybe they'll put a ridiculous bracelet on him that will disallow him from using any electronics, and then eventually all will be forgiven and he'll be a full agent again, and in a highly sexually provocative relationship with skye.

and then chun li and coulson will get it on.

and then the two nerds will too.

young and wholesome dmx will continue on the team as the secondary specialist, but won't be able to forgive ward for his betrayal, and will feel awkward because nerd girl chose nerd boy over his bbd. he'll eventually either sacrifice himself for the team, or be promoted to fury's personal bodyguard or something stupid like that.

i just don't think they'll let ward go after almost a whole season of gelling the team together. if coulson is willing to forgive chun li, then the team will probably follow suit and forgive ward.
