I can think of some pretty cool uses for that type of controller... like for RPG games, you can see all your stats and inventory and stuff on the controller screen. For racing games, you can see the map or gauges. For FPS games, there'd be your whole weapons stash, or ammo count, etc.
This is what people imagined the PSP could've done for the PS3. Sony already had it done halfway where you could access the PS3 menu system through the PSP, but they just didn't take it all the way like Nintendo has, but it probably has to do with the PSP's lack of thumb sticks. Maybe the new PS Vita could interface with the PS3.
