laptops are super powerful now, but that doesn't mean it's at the same price point at desktops. It's a lot lower than before, but desktops are still cheaper than a laptop with comparable specs.

but you're paying for a monitor too, which you aren't with all desktops.

a decent 23" -24" monitor is $150-200. I got 23" monitor for work for $99 during boxing week. Decent gaming desktop is around $700 or so. Total price is comparable to a decent laptop. Only problem is more and more laptops are coming with SSD drives, but it's only 80gb or 128gb. Of course you can always upgrade... $$$$.

Found a youtube vid of some guy testing a laptop with similar specs to what I was looking for.. Running a newer game at highest settings. Pretty impressive, makes my choice a lot tougher.

Maingear has some gaming laptops.

The Win8 launch is in a few days. It's everywhere in NYC. NYC smells like garbage btw, especially at night.

i was reading some previews of windows 8 and it sounds like no one really likes it for pc's. it's not bad for phones/tablets, but using it with a mouse sucks.
