we played cash games w/o multiplier but we had different min/max bets. that's how we stemmed some donkey action. I think at one point the min/max was $0.10/$2.00... so instead of $4max bet * 3 max raises = $12, each round could only cost someone max $2*3=$6... then again, with the multiplier, $12 only equated to $2.40 real money as opposed to $6 real. But that was the point so people had to think long and hard about chasing high on 7/27.

I'm pretty sure the max was always 4 bucks, cause that's how jai used to play with his buddies before playing with us. And I remember we used to buy in for 40-60 bucks at a time, but hardly did we ever rebuy.

If you really want to make it work, then the best format is 25¢ ante. $4 max raise. Everyone brings $60. That's your cap on a buy it for the night. No limitless games. People will think differently about how to manage their stacks and there should be more folding. My old buddies capped the buy in at $100 previously

i remember the days before when jai used to have those crappy bicycle poker chips. that was the very first time i played with jai's buddies like 9 or 10 years ago? i'm thinking 9ish years ago cuz i think it was the first year they moved into jai's elliot house. i'm pretty sure i remember the games were 0.10 ante and $2 max raises. they might've changed the max raise to $4 later when jai's buddies got even richer lol...

then again i could be wrong. Jai, do you ever remember playing $2 max bets? $4 seemed pretty high because $12 rounds with games of 4-5 rounds could cost you like $50-60 a game... i think i the first time i played, i bought in for $40 and that seemed like a bazillion bucks to me cuz i was a 19 yr old student lol... i don't think i could've afforded $4 max raises back then. and that was also before we instituted the a$$hole rule for 7/27 where the low couldn't take cards after 3 passes because that game just milked like crazy if any one person was the only low left

it could have been a couple times they lowered the max bet for poors like you were (i know they did for me a couple times). but the norm was always 4 bucks.

yea, i think it's funny how we all kinda evolved from saying "man, it's getting expensive cuz we buy in $20-40 each week... we need to introduce a multiplier to save us from ourselves" and now we say "pft, $40 is what i expect to lose on a normal night so might as well go balls to the walls"...

it's almost like we need a new CBA to protect us from ourselves....
