Why oh why oh why did the Liberals make BC's Family Day a week earlier than the rest of Canada? Why?

This is such a logistical nightmare.

haha, I didn't even know that. My dad hates the 'Liebrals'. He'd say that they did it because they didn't really think they'd still be in power and they thought the new gov't would get all the blame.

i think the reasoning was for travel. I vaguely remember reading an article saying that if bc residents get that weekend off that nobody else gets off then the cost for flights and such will be cheaper because it's not a "high traffic" weekend.

either way, i think it's stupid because i got screwed out of my extra "flex" day off now that BC has the same amount of stat days as Alberta.

I never liked the Canadian spelling of centre. It makes the conjugated spellings look weird, like "centred".

I always thought it was a rip that the US gets a stat every month and i think we were something like 2-3 months of the year without one. And now i don't really get any stats, nor do i get a real weekend.

I always thought we had more stats than the states. This year we get stats in all months except June (though this year is a bit of an exception).

according to the plethora of US calendars that i keep getting from people, it seems like they get at least one a month (sometimes two), but then i don't know if they're commemorations or stats.

like is school open for MLK day?
