They had actually started production with a different actor, Eric Stoltz. For some reason, they switched to Michael J Fox.

they always wanted michael j fox, but because he was so busy with family ties at the time, they decided to go with that other guy. they didn't like him so much and michael j fox worked it out in his schedule, but i think he was working like 24 hour days.
