Screw the environment

Corris and I learned a very costly lesson the other day.  Well everything started very well intentioned.  With Caleb’s birthday coming up, she was in need of some cupcake liners and cookie cutters.  I know of a little shop in Langley that is very well stocked on these kinds of things, so we decided to make it into a mini-road trip.  The idea of carpooling seemed ideal since Langley is a good 45 minute drive away, and we thought why take two cars when one will do for the four of us…oh boy.

The afternoon started with a casual lunch nearby my home, everyone was happy.  We were all fed and ready to hit the road.  I knew Reagan would be a little fussy in the car as the time neared her nap time and she always cries 10 minutes or so before falling asleep.  So just as predicted Reagan cried in the car.  At first, Caleb looked upon with some interest, maybe annoyed interest but curious nonetheless.  It didn’t take long though for Caleb feel the affects of her cries and decided to join in himself.  For the next 10-15 minutes Corris and I were entertained by their cries, a little distressed maybe but still amused.  Reagan eventually fell asleep for 10 minutes and Caleb quieted down…well, quieted down until he lost the hairbrush that had been holding his interest and then proceeded to cry.  It took a couple minutes, but Reagan was jolted from his napping reverie and responded to Caleb’s cries in kind with cries of her own.  It was a symphony of cries for the entire ride to Langley.  Some high pitched sounds, some low.  Sometimes they in tandem and sometimes in unison.  What variety!  I couldn’t help but giggle my head off, tears were budding from my eyes…what else could I do?  We were stuck in the car for entire ride, Corris and I were both distressed and 2 kids were balling their eyes out in the back.

The ride back could have been worse.  Corris was good enough to entertain Caleb to sleep on the ride back, but there was no consoling my little girl…no…she is the persistent one.  So persistent, she cried the entire 45 minutes back home.  Ahhhhhh…that’s my girl.

So what is the lesson to be learned here?  Screw the environment.  Ones sanity cannot be worth it.

Yup… the forumz obviously get way more traffic cuz the nerdz have addiction problems, but we keep this blog mainly for the family. My side of the family comes on quite a bit, especially with the ones in different parts of the world. I find that Facebook and Youtube have just toooo much crap going back and forth. Using vimeo and WordPress provides a place for people to drop by and lurk. No pressure to respond, or engage in small talk, just stop in to see what’s going on with us. I honestly wish all my family had something like this to follow along with. I understand that facebook can do that, but again, tooooo much nonsense to wade through.ReplyCancel
