Seeing as how Reagan was only 5 months old last October, she didn’t really get to experience all the really cool aspects of Hallowe’en. Stomping around in a muddy pumpkin patch, running up to complete strangers and asking them for free stuff, chasing around a tail that you never realized you had. Last year, all we could really do was just dress her up and watch all the other kids immerse themselves in their make believe worlds. But now that she is running, rolling, climbing, jumping around EVERYWHERE, it was obvious that this would be her first real go at it. And what better way to enjoy dressing up and being silly, that to do it with family and friends? So this year, we went to the pumpkin patch with her cousins Emma and Quinn, and her God-sister Hayden. She didn’t enjoy the mud as much as we thought she would, but then again, she is my daughter, so I can see where her preference for cleanliness comes from. But we did end up coming home with a Daddy, a Mommy, and a Reagan pumpkin.
In previous years, I liked to take my time with the pumpkin design. With so many stencils available on the internet now, no one freehands their pumpkins anymore, which is sad. After my Spidey and Star Wars pumpkins from before, I had a pretty ambitious idea for this year, but then reality hit. Having to carve out three pumpkins instead of one was really going to cut in on my budgeted time, so ultimately, I had to give up on my original idea. After the mess of pumpkin guts was cleaned up, it was time for the main event. Reagan got to head out with Hayden, Ryan, and Caleb this year for her very first outing, and boy was it ever a treat for her!!!
